About Aaron Sanders

Since this site is supposed to serve as an academic and professional portfolio, it makes sense that I should include academic information relevant to my goals.

I shall begin the discussion with the academic facts: I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and am currently in my final semester in the Master of Science in Information Technology program at Rochester Institute of Technology (Telecommunications Technology, Technology Management and eCommerce concentrations), in which I maintain a 4.0 Grade Point Average. I have been published twice (both papers are available in the 'Papers and Publications' section), with a third paper currently under peer review. For the paper under review, I have been offered the potential opportunity to debate the merits of ICANN with Vincent Cerf. Although I'm not sure that I have the debating prowess necessary to hold my opinion against an individual as legendary as Vincent Cerf, I welcome the challenge, and plan on accepting. I enjoy certifications, and currently hold A+, Network+, and Microsoft Certified Professional in Windows 98. I need to begin updating my certifications, but am kept busy by my classes.

I'll give a brief overview of my employment experiences in this section. Please see my curriculum vitae (found in the 'Curriculum Vitae' section) for more specific details of my work experiences. I worked for two years as a network administrator, and freelanced as a technical consultant. I had a wide range of responsibilities, including network administration, server administration, desktop support, purchasing and management. That was an enjoyable position, because my responsibilities allowed me to do a little bit of everything, which really helped me discover what I desired from a career in computing.

I am a strong supporter of small businesses, and focus most of my consulting work on helping small business customers find the proper technical solutions for their organization. I recently helped a small business customer upgrade their network infrastructure, providing better response time for their point-of-sale software application. I am now working with that same customer to determine the necessity and requirements for a server hardware upgrade, to provide better database queries and end-of-month processing.

My favorite subjects are networking, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence. For my thesis, I plan on writing about information security and privacy in modern technological society. My proposal document is available in the 'Thesis Proposal Document' section. I am still looking for committee members, so feel free to contact me with suggestions.

I believe that concludes everything about me. More information on specific subjects can be found in the documents available from the links to the left.
